HAIR REMOVAL Q & A

How long does waxing last?
It's different for everyone but typically about 2 weeks. By week 4  you will probably be ready for a wax.

How long does my hair need to be?
Anywhere between ¼ inch - ½ inch is ideal.

Does waxing hurt?
For most, yes. For some, no. This depends on multiple factors: pain tolerance, the amount, texture, and thickness/density of the hairs. Coming in for regular visits greatly diminishes the amount of pain because the hair will grow back more fine and more sparse.

How  do I prevent ingrown hairs?
Exfoliation and hydration is the key to limiting  the amount of ingrown hairs. Please let me know if you are prone to problematic ingrown and we can talk about product/protocol options. Everyone's situation is different.

How should I prepare for my appointment?
- Exfoliate with a scrub or an exfoliating washcloth the day before
- No tanning 48 hours before
- Please do not trim, If I feel it is too long then I will trim it for you
- If you have a low pain tolerance you can take a Tylenol or ibuprofen about 30 minutes prior

Can I get waxed if I’m on my menstrual cycle?
Yes, just please wear a tampon/cup. Some people find that waxing is more painful during this time.

Do you wax the nose and ears?
I am happy to wax the ear lobe, the perimeter of the nostril and the ear but do not wax inside the ear or nostrils. Those hair are meant to be there for our own health and safety and I personally feel as though they should not be completely removed but can be trimmed

How should I care for my skin after waxing?
- If you feel sensitive right afterwards, you can do a cool-compress when you get home
- Avoid  community water sharing, hot yoga, hot baths, saunas/steam rooms, tanning, excessive exercise that causes sweating, tight clothes, friction, and  intimate activities for 24-48 hours
- After  48 hours start exfoliating a few times a week
- Keep your skin hydrated

If any of the below applies to you, then you may not be a good candidate for waxing at this time:
- Currently taking Accutane or has taken Accutane in the last 6 months
- Currently on antibiotics or have been within the last 7-10 days
- Have an active Herpes outbreak
- Have a sunburn on the area to be waxed
- Have had a chemical peel or other facial treatments in the past 7 days
- Have used any type of Retinol or other exfoliating acids in the past 48 hours
- Have skin showing signs of trauma, open/active acne lesions, eczema, psoriasis, or dermatitis

SKIN AND BODY Q&A

How often should I receive professional skin treatments?
I recommend once a month for regular maintenance and every 2 weeks if we are doing an advanced exfoliation series or working towards correcting signs of aging. At the minimum I recommend 4 per year, our skin changes through the different seasons and our routine should adjust slightly for this.

Should I receive a skin treatment if I have very sensitive skin?
Yes. There are many factors involved when having sensitive or reactive skin. A facial can help offer immediate relief as well as guidance with your home care routine to improve the condition of your skin. I have an entire segment of my skincare line that is specifically designed for sensitive/reactive skin and  can help reduce redness & inflammation, soothe, and hydrate the skin.

Can I receive a skin treatment if I’m pregnant?
Absolutely! Just let me know if you are expecting and I will make sure to use only pregnancy safe products as well as adjust the table for your comfort.

Can I get facial waxing the same day as a skin treatment
Yes, I will just avoid exfoliating those areas. If you plan on getting your entire face waxed I usually recommend making 2 separate appointments, waxing at least 3 days prior to the facial. If you choose to do them both on the same day then we will just omit the exfoliation step of the facial and design the skin treatment around soothing, calming  and healing the skin.

What does ‘Advanced Exfoliation” consist of?
This consists of multiple options of acid based exfoliants. I will choose the one that is best suited for your skin and your desired results. Most of my options are gentle, yet effective, and cause little to no sensitivity and no down time; meaning that you can continue with life as normal as long as you are wearing proper  sun protection. I do however have a couple stronger options that will more than likely cause visible peeling of the skin layers. There are more cautions to be taken with these treatments and while I wouldn’t consider them to have “actual downtime’ sometimes the peeling of the skin can be a bit unsightly and make people feel a bit self-conscious. The shedding usually takes place approx. 3 days post peel and can last for about a week. The results are different for everyone.

How do I prepare for my body treatment appointment?
Please show up for your appointment freshly showered and in comfy clothing. I would also recommend exfoliating your whole body a day or 2 prior. This step isn’t necessary as I will be applying an exfoliating acid at the start of your appointment, but it may help enhance hydration & results.

Can I shower after a body treatment?
I don’t recommend showering until the day after your body treatment. When you leave your appointment, your skin will be exfoliated, hydrated, and nourished. It is beneficial to allow all those products to be fully absorbed.

How close to my wedding day (or big event) can I receive a skin treatment?
I recommend preparing for your wedding day a month or 2 in advance for best results. When this is done it is much easier to gauge how your skin will respond. If I see you regularly and am familiar with  your skin then the day before the big event is completely possible and beneficial.

EYELASH EXTENSION Q&A

What can I expect from the appointment?
I will have you fill out paperwork and we will consult about the kind of look you are wanting as well as if you are getting them for a specific purpose. You will then lay down on a comfortable table while I apply 1 lash at a  time moving back and forth from each eye. Most people find this to be very relaxing and usually take this opportunity for a little nap or meditation. Please feel free to request music of your choice, binaural beats, guided meditation, or even a podcast.

Do you do volume lashes?
No I do not. I choose to only do classic lash extensions because in my personal opinion they are the best option for retaining the strength and integrity of your natural lashes in the long run.

What exactly does “classic lash extensions’ mean?
This means that one artificial eyelash is glued to one natural eyelash at a time, ensuring that multiple eyelashes don't end up getting glued together.

How long will my lashes last?
Generally your full set of lashes will last about 4 weeks, however, I recommend getting fills every 2-3 weeks to maintain your desired effect

How should I prepare for my appointment?
- The day before do not wear any waterproof mascara and do not curl your lashes
- Show up to your appointment without any eye makeup on
- Wear your glasses instead of contacts if possible

How do I properly care for my eyelashes?
- Do not get your lashes wet for at least 24 hours after application
- Do not go tanning for 24 hours after application
- Use an oil-free makeup remover
- Do not rub, pick, or pull your lashes
- If you choose to wear mascara, use only water based and apply from mid-section to tips only
- Avoid using an eyelash curler
- Try to avoid exposure to heat, steam, and saunas

Will it ruin or cause my natural lashes to fall out?
When applied correctly, lash extensions will not cause your natural lashes to fall out.

How long does the appointment take?
2 hours for the first full set appointment. Fill appointments are anywhere from 45 minutes to an hour and a half depending on how long it's been since your last appointment, as well as what life events have transpired during that time. If you have been in the water a lot, crying, or its allergy season, chances are that more work will need to be done

How do I prepare if I want lash extensions for my wedding day?
I recommend getting Lash extensions a couple months prior to the big day. Especially if you’ve never had them before. It is rare that reactions occur, but it can happen.

YUMI LASH LIFT AND TINT Q&A

What do I need to do to prepare for this treatment?
- Show up to your appointment with no mascara or eyeliner on
- No Lash extensions for a week prior
- No waterproof mascara or lash curler for 72 hours prior

What do I need to know for post care?
- Do not get your lashes wet for 48 hours!
- No Mascara, eye creams/oils, or lash growth serums for 48 hours
- Avoid steam, excessive sweating, hot yoga, hair washing at home, facials, and massages for 48 hours

How long is the appointment?
I can typically finish in about 90 minutes, sometimes it can take a full 2 hours if you have really long, thick, or stubborn lashes.

Can I still use lash growth serums?
Absolutely! You just have to wait the 48 hours after the treatment.

What can I expect from the appointment?
I will have you fill out paperwork then you will lay down on a comfortable table. The first step in the process is gluing (water soluble) a silicone shield to your upper eyelid, then molding your lashes onto that silicone shield with that same water soluble glue. I then detail the lashes so that they are all evenly spaced and as symmetrical as possible. Next step is the keratin/lifting solution, followed by a nourishing solution, followed by a tint. The last step is the removal using a keratin based oil. Please feel free to request music of your choice, binaural beats, guided meditation, or even a podcast.

How Long does this treatment last?
8-12 weeks

Is the procedure painful?
No, many often drift off to sleep during the appointment.

What are the possible side effects? Is the procedure safe?
Your lashes will be lifted onto a specially shaped lifting pad, tailored to your eye shape and size, prior to application to avoid products touching your skin and getting in the eye. Since the treatment products never touch the skin during the process any possible irritation is minimized. Mild redness around the eye may occur due to the product removal process, but should disappear within a few minutes after the treatment. As with any cosmetic, in absolute rare cases, allergic reactions can develop. Let me know if you are prone to allergic reactions to makeup and skincare products beforehand. There are no harsh chemicals involved in this process. The products are Hypoallergenic, non-toxic, paraben and formaldehyde-free.

What if I wear contacts?
Just bring your contact case and remove them prior to treatment. They can be put back in immediately afterwards.
